Becoming impatient with Hansel,
the witch planned to eat Gretel, so
she prepared the oven in which to bake
her and tried to trick Gretel into the oven
by asking her to crawl in to see if it was
yet hot. Gretel realizing her trick, played
dumb as if not to understand what the
witch was asking her to do.
